Suspected Arson Attack at a Peterborough School

In the early hours of Monday, 8 September 2014 one of our Mobile Patrol Officers was carrying out a security patrol of the school when he came across a person in the grounds. He verbally challenged the person who immediately ran off.

He then noticed that a fire had been started near a building so he immediately alerted the Fire Brigade, the Police, Ambulance Service and an additional Intacept Security Mobile Patrol Officer to attend. Four fire crews were dispatched at 3.40am and the fire was extinguished at 5:20am

Extensive damage was caused to the sixth form common room, which is separate to the main school.

A school spokeswoman said the rest of the site is safe for students and staff and that the school is carrying on as normal, although sixth form students have had to be re-located to spare rooms. The room is part of the two-storey building which contains a library and study area at the top.

Due to the Mobile Patrol Officers quick response and the swift arrival of all the Emergency Services involved the fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished.
